Biography

Child Loses Arm

Child Loses Arm play progressive acoustic grunge.

2003-2005

Originally formed under the name of ADD in 2003, the line up featured talented singer/songwriter Charlie Atkinson for a short while on lead vocals. When Alex Simpson joined in 2004, they changed their name to Child Loses Arm.

The band members between 2003 and 2005 were:

  • Charlie Atkinson (vocals) [2003]
  • Andrew Candlish (guitar)
  • Grant Everatt (drums)
  • Jamie Mooney (vocals, bass)
  • Alex Simpson (vocals, guitar) [2004]

2006 to 2008

The band split in late 2005, but remained good friends. It seemed a shame to let the songs fade into the ether, so Jamie and Alex tried to keep the music alive by playing a few acoustic gigs together.

2009 to 2010

In 2009 Jamie recruited Shaneen Dawkins (The Creeks), former Child Loses Arm member Alex Simpson (Wobbly Bob) and Martyn Spencer (Ether 5 / Hear Something Else) – to give the songs the performances they deserve.

The first full Child Loses Arm album will be released at some point in the future. All we can tell you at the moment is that it will be called ‘Newt Folk’, and that it will be a large collaboration between key players that have helped drive the creativity of the band over the years. For now you can find a few demo samples on theĀ music page.
